Welcome to Monroe, Oregon |
With
the charm of a small rural community yet close access to larger population
centers, the community of Monroe has about 600 residents and is the
smallest incorporated city in the Tri-County region. Having settlers as
early as the 1850’s, Monroe was born as a homesteading center, timber
town, and a minor river port. With a history of agriculture and trees,
today you will see thousands of acres of local hillsides covered with
Christmas Trees, an industry that has been part of Monroe for over 40
years. |
Some
of the anchor institutions based in the community include the Monroe Fire
Department and the Monroe School District that serves unincorporated
outlying communities. The Monroe School District includes Monroe Grade School (K-8 grades) and Monroe High School (grades 9-12). Monroe High School has been listed by US News and World Report as one of America’s Best High Schools. With the large cities of Corvallis to the North and Eugene to the South, Monroe is ideally situated between two state universities, several community colleges, and several large retail centers. |
